T/Sgt Charles Zubov was employed at the Presidio of Monterey.

He enlisted on 26 October 1942 at San Francisco, California.

The airplane was hit by flak in one of the right wing tanks. The wing was on fire instantly. The plane rolled off to the right and went into a dive. At an altitude of about 18.000 feet the plane broke in two at the ball turret.

Three crew members survived and were taken prisoner. Eight men were killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of Odenthal.
