T/Sgt Thaddeus W. Hunter Jr. graduated from Lanier High School in 1940 where he was active in the Glee Club and the Ushers Club. He was a former employee of Mathews Electric Co and was a soloist for the First Methodist Church.He enlisted at Fort Mcpherson, Atlanta, Georgia on 30 October 1941. He was sent overseas in July 1942.
The plane was attacked by fighters which knocked out #1 engine and damaged #2. It crash landed near Eldena. The pilot was blinded by 20 mm bullet fragments.
T/Sgt Hunter is remembered at the Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama.
He had completed 29 mission at the time of his death.
