Harry Tomlin attended college and was a clerk.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States at Fort De Moines, Iowa on 17 January 1942.

The aircraft was shot down by German fighters.

Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner, eight men were killed and initially buried at the community cemetery Hohenfelde on 7 January 1944.
