S/Sgt Gene H. Paige attended high school for four years and was a technician.He enlisted in Peoria, Illinois on 5 October 1942.
The aircraft was shot down by German fighters.
Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner, eight men were killed and initially buried at the community cemetery Hohenfelde on 7 January 1944.
