S/Sgt Melvin T. Ross Jr. graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1941. He worked in the manufacture of clocks, watches, jewelry and articles of precious metals.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Boston, Massachusetts on 5 January 1942. He was sent overseas in September 1942 to 29 March 1944.
The aircraft was shot down by a fighter and crashed at 1400 hours.
Four crew members survived and were taken prisoner, six men were killed. They were intially buried at the cemetery of Parsau, Germany.
