Captain Stryker was a staff officer on Gen. Courtney Hodges First Army staff. Well-known in Orlando and Sanford, he was killed in action after serving overseas three years and shortly before his dead he had returned to the front after spending six weeks in Paris hospital where he recuperated from earlier wounds.
Captain Stryker graduated from the University of Florida and visited Orlando and Sanford frequently where he had relatives. He was killed while crossing the Elbe River in Germany.
His brother, Ens. Julius B.B. Stryker Jr., served in the Pacific aboard a destroyer.
