Sgt Nicolas W. Donvito was a newsboy before he enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 17 July 1941.

He had seen action in North Africa and Sicily, where he was wounded and evacuated to England. When fighting in France, he was again returned to England, suffering from a malaria attack. After recovering he rejoined his unit and was killed three months later.
