Pvt Darrell D. Richards was a kitchen worker before he enlisted at Fort MacArthur, California on 29 January 1942.

He was hospitalized from December 1943 to March 1944 for pneumococcal lumbar and pleuritis serofibrinous.

Pvt Darrell D. Richards was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Fosse, Belgium.
