S/Sgt Robert L. Yeakel joined the Regular Army Reserve in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 7 December 1942.

The photo shows Robert Yeakel with the son of a family in Vaals, the Netherlands, where he was billeted for a short time. Less than half a year later Sgt Yeakel was killed in action.
