Pvt Floyd D. Rusk graduated from Miami University.

He joined the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Hayes, Ohio on 10 February 1943. He was selected for A.S.T.P. and studied at the South Dakota School of Mines until the program was disbanded. He was sent overseas in September 1944.
