Pfc Joseph P. McGlynn attended high school for two years and was a driver at the Posten Taxicab Company before he enlisted in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on 22 February 1943. He arrived in Europe on 12 September 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his chest.
