Pvt Victor M. Fatty enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 9 January 1943. He worked on the Erie railroad as a laborer.
He was taken prisoner of war and Stalag IV-B to the effects of gastritis.
He was a Native American, a member of the Onandaga Nation living on the Allegany Reservation of the Seneca Nation.
His brother, Pvt Kenneth Fatty was killed on 6 June 1944 in the D-Day invasion of Normandy while serving in the U.S. Army in France.
His remains were recovered and he buried in 1956 at his final resting place at the Hillside Haven Cemetery, Cattaraugus County, New York.
