Cpl Harold H. Stohry graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1937 and worked on a farm.

He enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 28 October 1941 and was sent overseas in September of 1944.

Cpl Stohry was taken prisoner on 24 November 1944. While being transferred from Stalag WII-A near Limburg, Germany, to Stalag III-B near Furstenberg in December 1944, he suffered frost bitten feet and was taken to the camp hospital on 31 January 1945. He was killed when the hospital was bombed.
