Lt Lynn Oliver attended college and was a stock clerk.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in San Francisico, California on 13 April 1942.

The airplane was attacked by enemy fighters and exploded. Three crew members were killed. They were initially buried at the community cemetery of Dinteloord.

Seven men survived and were taken prisoner.

Lt Oliver was wounded by a 20mm cannon round in the chest during the fighter attack and was last seen alive close to the escape hatch. His body was found in the wreckage of the plane.
