2nd Lt Harry R. Hastings graduated from Davenport High School and was employed by the U. N. Roberts Co. as a stenographer and typist.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States at Fort Des Moines, Iowa on 20 March 1942 and trained at the Army Air Forces pre-flight school at Maxwell Field, Alabama.
At approximately 12 minutes before the target was reached, enemy aircraft made sudden attacks on the group of which this aircraft was part of. The entire tail of the aircraft was shot off and plane flipped over out of control. Aircraft going down in vicinity of the I.P.
