Sgt Harold L. Stephenson enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 22 July 1943.

The aircraft was shot down 12 minutes before I.P was reached. The Squadron in which this aircraft was flying was suddenly under attack by German planes, the attacks lasted for about 10 minutes, there were friendly fighters present but not in sufficient numbers.

He was first buried at the village cemetery of Zehringen, Germany on 8 October 1944.
