S/Sgt Erwin E. Lamont enlisted in Hartford, Connecticut on 23 October 1942.

According to S/Sgt Leonard A. La Marco, a surviving crew member, they were attacked by enemy fighters. Soon after they dropped their bombs, the #4 engine was shot out of the wing and #3 engine was burning.

Five crew members survived and were taken prisoner, five were killed.

He is remembered at the Fairview Cemetery in New Britain, Connecticut.
