More information

Frank Standifird graduated from Snowflake High School.

He enlisted together with is brothers Gyll and Lorenzo on 18 February 1941. The three of them were sent to Camp Barkeley and lived in the same tent or hutment for 14 months. Frank and Gyll transferred to the Air Corps. Lorenzo tried to do the same but insufficient sight on one eye kept him out. Both brothers were members of the same crew and were sent overseas in July 1943. They flew fifteen missions together.

The aircraft was seen with #1 and #4 engines out, with black smoke pouring out. Wheels were down and bombs were believed to be dropped. The left wing dropped off. The A/C was believed to blow up and disintegrate.

His brother Gyll is also listed on the Walls of the Missing at Margraten.
