S/Sgt Stanley V. Mitchkuicz joined the Regular Army in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 2 October 1940, and trained in North Carolina until he was sent overseas to take part in the African campaign in November 1942.He was wounded in Africa in March 1943, and was brought to a hospital in Columbus, Ohio. After recovering from wounds, he reported for duty and was later shipped to England in October 1944.
