Pfc Frank M. Bacon enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 15 July 1943.His brother, Pfc Gilbert Bacon, only 17, enlisted in the U.S. Marines in May 1944, with the consent of his parents. He was killed in action on 7 October 1944 in the South Pacific Area. He is buried at the Manila American Cemetery at the Philippines.
