T/5 Charles P. Harris graduated from Fresno High School and attended Fresno State College where he was assistant manager of the football team and manager of the basketbaal team. He was a mechanic at the Peerless Pump Division of the Food Machinery Corporation.He enlisted in Sacramento, California, on 7 November 1941. He was first staioned in Texas and spent two years in Philadelphia with an anti-aircraft unit of the Coast Artillery. In November 1944 he was transferred tot the infantry and was stationed at Camp Howzie, Texas before he was sent overseas on 1 January 1945.
At the time of his death, his brother Robert had the rank of captain and served with the 8th Air Force in England.
