Thomas graduated from St. Benedict High School.Pvt Boyle enlisted on 23 February 1944 and was sent overseas in October 1944.
He was killed by small arms fire in the head.
He initially buried in a temporary grave at Henri-Chapelle on 20 January 1945. His remains were disinterred on 18 November 1947 and prepared and placed on a casket on the same day. He was given his final resting place on 3 August 1948.
