Pfc Howard R. Dodge worked as a welder for the U.S. Air Conditioning Company in Minneapolis. He enlisted in November 1943 and had his basic training at Camp Roberts, California. He was later transferred to Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky where he joined his regiment. Further training was received at Camp Buckner, North Carolina from where the unit moved to the point of embarkation, Fort Meade, Maryland.He was killed by an accidental gunshot wound penetrating his chest.
