S/Sgt John A. Donahue enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 23 March 1943 and was sent to Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri for basic infantry training. Later he was transferred to Camp Breckenridge in Kentucky and from there went overseas in October 1944.
