Pfc Cyril J. Gerwitz graduated from West Valley Central School.

He enlisted on4 August 1943 and had three brothers in the Armed Forces.

About forty years after he was killed in the Battle of the Bulge, his family came into contact with hid commanding officer who told them - in contrast to the official papers - the real date of death would have been 25 December 1944.

Pfc Gerwitz was instantly killed by machine gun fire.
