Together with his parents, Lawrence Susynski emigrated to America in 1927. He graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1942 and attended one semester at the University of New Hampshire before he enlisted on 22 February 1943.His brother remembered that it was Lawrence's goal to return to Poland after the war to rebuild his native country.
