Pfc Craig L. Inkrote enlisted in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 24 August 1942.

He attended high school for 1 year and worked in transportation before he enlisted.

Pfc Inkrote was shot in the chest during an altercation between French and American soldiers in a darkened civilian dance hall. Pvt Inkrote had not taken part in the altercation, but was found on the floor with a chest wound immediately after the lights were turned back on following the shot. He was rushed to the hospital, but was dead upon arrival there.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Champigneul, France.

At the time of his death, his brother James served in China.
