John Hollensbe graduated from Ardmore High School.

He enlisted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in July 1943 and trained at Camp Wallace, Texas, Fort Bliss, Texas and Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky. He was overseas for only two months when he was killed by artillery fire.
