2nd Lt Walter H. Boggs attended college and was an actor.

He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve at Geiger Fields, Spokane, Washington on 24 July 1942.

Lt Boggs tried to crash land the plane and by doing so was thrown clear of the plane and killed.

The rest of the nine crew members bailed out and were taken prisoner.
