F/O Houison G. Reed attended Louisiana State University for three years.
He volunteered for the U.S. Army in Houston, Texas on 30 December 1941. He was sent overseas in April, 1944.
The aircraft was hit by flak and was reported to have blown up, after it had left the formation with one wing a solid mass of flames. No parachutes were seen. All 10 crew members were killed.

F/O Reed is remembered at the Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, Allen Parish, Louisiana.
