2nd Lt Edward Pfeiffer Jr. graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1940. He was a draftsman at the Gas and Electric Company.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Baltimore, Maryland on 22 September 1942.

The airplane was hit by a direct flak burst, breaking the fuselage in two.

The wreckage crashed close to Prenden, Germany. All nine crewmembers were killed. They were initially buried at the local cemetery of the town.
