2nd Lt Arthur C. Rinne attended college before he joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Chicago, Illinois on 25 September 1942.

The aircraft was last observed at or about 1245 hours in the vicinity of 5215N - 1220E, at which time it was attacked by enemy aircraft. The right stabilizer was shot off and number # 3 engine was burning as subject aircraft went down, finally blowing up. Of the 10 men crew, four were KIA and six ended up POW.
