Sgt Martin Goldberg attended Central High School and was employed at Food Fair Incorporated.

He enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 8 January 1942.

A/C 42-97246 was attacked by enemy fighters over target. The co-pilot and Sgt Martin Goldberg were killed by enemy fire. Five crew members bailed out and survived. The remaining three crew members were killed in the crash. The aircraft crashed in the swampy area near Neuenkirchen, Germany.
