Capt Craig J. Harwood joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army enlisted on 15 August 1941.The aircraft was shot down by flak over the target. Seven crew members were killed, three men were taken prisoner.
Capt Harwood was severly wounded and taken to Reserve Lazaret III where he died the same day. This lazaret was stationed in the St. Joseph's Stift Hospital in Bremen.
