Gilbert Clark attended college for one year and was an accountant.He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Charlotte, North Carolina on 9 February 1942.
The aircraft received a direct flak hit in the left wing. The wing broke off and the aircraft went down in flames.
Seven crew members were killed, two men survived and were taken prisoner.
