Sgt John F. Howorusz worked in a glass factory before he enlisted in the Canadian Air Force in early 1941 and after American entered the war he transferred to the U.S. Army Air Corps on 28 October 1942.

The airplane was shot down by Hptm Lutje of IV/NJG1. Nine crew members were killed, one survived and was taken prisoner.
