Leslie B. Zubiri attended University of Utah for more than two years.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Salt Lake City, Utah on 21 January 1942 and received his wings and commission in August 1942 in Rosell, New Mexico.

The airplane was shot down by Hptm Lutje of IV/NJG1. Nine crew members were killed, one survived and was taken prisoner.

Lt Zubiri's remains washed ashore on 27 June 1943.
