Caryll D. Nobbs attended Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, California.

He first joined the British Army in at Great Britain and later was transferred to the Air Corps of the Army of the United States.

During the time he was serving in the British Army he met an English girl, named Selma Annie Kain and was married to her in Essex, England.

The airplane was attacked by enemy aircraft and exploded when it hit the water. Five parachutes were seen. All ten crew members were killed.

A monument was erected on the beach near the D10 at Paluel, France in memory of the crew.
