S/Sgt Belvin J. Peters graduated from Picadome High School in Lexington, Kentucky. He was employed at Hubert Ray Grocery Company in Nashville, Tennessee.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States at Camp Forrest, Tennessee on 24 April 1942. He was sent overseas in June 1942.

The airplane was attacked by a ME 109 shortly after bombs away. N° 3 engine caught fire and flames also seemed to come from from and fuselage. It crashed at 10:30 at Geefsweer Village, South of Delfzijl.

Four crew members were killed, six were taken prisoner.
