T/Sgt William G. Dickson survived the ditching of B-17F, 41-24464 on the return from a mission to Hamm on 4 March 1943.

A/C 42-29998 was shot down by enemy aircraft. Of the ten men crew only two survived and were taken prisoner.

He was initially buried at the City Cemetery of Bocholt on 25 June 1943.

T/Sgt Dickson is remembered at Tillar Cemetery, Drew County, Arkansas with a memorial marker.
