2nd Lt Arthur M. Janis attended college and was a clerk before he joined the Regular Army in New York City, New York.

The mission took place on 25 December 1944.

1st Lt Harold A. Warren Jr.:
We saw aircraft 42-95028 go into flat spin with the #1 engine out. The aircraft was under control, but it dropped back of the formation. One chute opened at this time. The plane continued to fall and the Navigator of our aircraft saw 4 chutes. 5 crew members were killed in the crash end 4 were taken prisoner.

He died of wounds at Stalag IX-B.
