Paul Gildewell was a metal worker.He enlisted at Camp Croft, South Carolina on 25 January 1943.
The formation was attacked by enemy fighters. Further information about the exact circumstances of the loss of the airplane are not known. Four crew members survived and were taken prisoner, six were killed.
