Jack Lewis is memorialized at Highland Burial Park in Danville, Virginia. He attended Dan River High School.He entered the service in June, 1942 and went overseas in April.
His brother Sgt. Ben Lewis was wounded twice in the European Theater of operations.
We were hit before reaching Germany we were on fire. The pilot put the plane in a dive so the fire went out and we headed back we were hit again over the North Sea half the plane was on fire. The order came to Bail out. We were picked up by the Germans.
