Russel C. Ford's B-17, "Lady Jean",was seen ditching in flames over the North Sea at 13:50 hrs. The cause for the fire was unknown. The crew was its 11th mission and flew the group's first B-17 aircraft which was equipped with the new Bendix Chin Turret.
