1st Lt Linwood D. Langley graduated from Pittsfield High School. He attended Johns Hopkins University and the University of California.

He was commissioned and received his wings on 6 February 1943. He had been in England since 5 October 1943.

The aircraft was shot down by enemy fighter planes. Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner. Eight men were killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of Vechta, Germany.
