More information

S/Sgt John E. Sharp was a welder.

He enlisted at Camp Shelby, Mississippi on 17 June 1944.

The Silver Star citation for Sgt Sharp stated that while dismounting from tanks which they were riding, one of the men fell and broke his leg and lay helpless in the center of a road continually swept by the enemy fire. Sgt. Sharp, with complete disregard for personal safety, ran out into the road and dragged the injured soldier to cover in a ditch.
