Pfc William D. Potts enlisted at Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio on 7 March 1941.He had been overseas since October 1943. He was married to Miss Mildred Foreman of Richwood February 21, 1943. Before induction he was employed on the farm of William Pierce. In his last letter to his wife he said his division was nearing Berlin.
Private First Class William Potts was driving a Jeep with members of a patrol when they were fired upon by enemy from high ground to their front. He was killed as he ran for cover.
