Pfc Lloyd L. Cockrell graduated from Lampasas High School in 1932.He enlisted at Fort Sam Houston, Texas on 6 February 1942. He was sent overseas in Octobe, 1943. He landed at the Normandy beachhead on 7 June 1944.
He had been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action in France.
