Pfc George Shields enlisted at Fort Sill, Oklahoma on 4 February 1942. He trained at Camp Wolters and Fort Sam Houston, Texas.He was reported wounded in action on 27 July 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.
He was overseas since 14 months when he was killed.
He is remembered at the Kiowa City Cemetery, Kiowa, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma.
