T/5 Joseph J. Koken graduated from Duquesne High School in 1940 and was employed at the Christy Park plant of the National Tube Co.He enlisted in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on 13 August 1942 and was sent overseas in September 1944.
His father was born in Czecho-Slovakia as Stepan Kochan and Immigrated to the United States in 1911. His mother was also an emigrant from Czecho-Slovakia.
